1. Read the story from Matthew 15:21-28. Discuss the different characters. Who do you most identify with? Why? What bothers you most about the story?
2. What does this story teach about persistence and faith? When should we accept God’s no and when should we press on.
3. Read John 19:26-27. Most all of Christ’s followers have left. Only ones left are some women, including Jesus’ mother, and a teenager named John. What stands out to you from these two short verses?
4. Honor your father and mother. That is what Exodus 20:12 teaches. How did Jesus honor His earthly mother?
5. Honoring your parents is easy if you have “good” parents. What about parents that abused or demeaned you? How are you to honor someone who has not earned the right to be honored? Put yourself in those shoes. What would you do?
